Chattar Manzil
The Chattar Manzil, or Umbrella Palace, is an extraordinary palace in Lucknow, notable for its unique architectural style that blends European and Awadhi influences. Its most distinctive feature is the series of domed structures, resembling umbrellas, that crown its various sections. Originally built by Nawab Ghazi-ud-Din Haider and completed by his successors, it served as a royal palace for the Nawabs of Awadh. Later, during the British Raj, it was used as a government office. The palace stands on the banks of the Gomti River, and its grand facade reflects in the water, creating a picturesque scene. Although parts of it are now used for government offices, its historical significance and architectural beauty make it a compelling site for visitors.
